One of the clearest existential threats facing humanity is anthropogenic climate change. The dire consequences to ecological stability and human prosperity if the status quo is maintained are thoroughly supported by data.1 We as a society now stand at a crossroads—do we give up in the face of this existential threat and deal with the consequences, or do we adjust course toward a more livable future?
