Sumitomo Chemical forms joint venture with Samsung Electro-Mechanics for semiconductor packaging
A Korean subsidiary of Sumitomo Chemical called Dongwoo Fine-Chem Co., Ltd. entered a joint venture with Samsung Electro-Mechanics to promote the glass core substrate business for advanced semiconductor packages. Glass core substrates offer superior thermal stability, dimensional accuracy, and signal performance compared to traditional organic substrates. The joint venture is scheduled to establish a supply system by the second half of fiscal 2027.
